Art Trek Schedule American Art Safaris / School of Intuitive Painting 2009-2010 |
Traveling with artists is an exciting event! Because our painting groups are small, we are able to provide individual technical assistance and help each artist develop his or her own personal style. We paint daily, learn new skills, and enjoy the atmosphere of camaraderie these travel/study classes provide. Our well-paced, innovative itineraries and comfortable accommodations are orchestrated and selected with an artist's eye. Art Trek's artist/instructors are working professionals. We have twenty years of experience in designing painting classes and art workshops to exotic destinations. We welcome beginner to professional levels of skill. Early enrollment is recommended. Join us for an unbeatable art experience and in many cases the trip of a lifetime!
"Carol, Thank you for a fabulous painting trip to Huahine. Painting in such an exotic, remote place is truly a vacation that I can get used to. Traveling to Tuscany and then to French Polynesia with Art Trek is an upscale and inspiring experience. I would recommend Art Trek to any artist without hesitation. Thank you for the valuable instructions, memories, techniques and friendships." Susan (August 2007 Island Watercolor, French Polynesia)
“Hello
Carol, Yet again I wish to thank- you for the marvelous classes! My daughter
called last night and we had a grand time talking about what I did under your
tutelage. You are the most gentle of teachers and I loved the way you guided
me.
On the inside of my computer armoire doors (white) I have posted five pieces
of art I have accomplished (practice pages, too) and I love having the feel
of them around me. I have the 'real' painting in the living room, and the three
little ones together on a table in my studio. I so appreciate having some skills
now to use to enjoy myself. With deepest gratitude,"
Peggy (July 2009 Series of 4 classes Studio on the Mesa, Bolinas)
In 2009-2010 our water media and mixed media classes will take us to Bolinas, California (an hour north of San Francisco) for a schedule of 1-day Saturday classes twice a month and 2-day weekend intensives twice per season. We are also initiating our American Art Safari program to West Marin with Winter and Spring Mixed Media classes December 27, 28 & 29, 2009 and April 23, 25 & 25, 2010. These classes are designed to give both American and International students an introduction to Intuitive Painting via the mediums of watercolor, fluid acrylic and collage. We are excited to be returning to NEW destinations in France. Our art exploratories will take us to Collioure, France on the Mediterranean Sea June 21-28, 2010 and to Languedoc/Roussillon, France June 28-July 5, 2010. Pending is an Island Mixed Media Watercolor & Collage cruise in Tahitian waters on the Paul Gauguin. In addition to our well planned classes and excursions, lovely serendipitous events feed our art stream. There is nothing like an art adventure to renew your art and spirit! Classes offer wet-into-wet instruction in watercolor, fluid acrylic and mixed media collage painting.
If you enjoy painting and traveling with easy going like-minded artists, then an Art Trek painting class is for you. Whether you are a beginner, teacher, therapist or artist working in any medium seeking a fresh start; whether your work moves in a realistic or abstract direction, our non-traditional approach to water media painting will be appreciated. Productivity is high, teaching is individualized and the art workshops are just plain fun. Come paint with us and enjoy an art adventure like no other!

This
day long water media painting class is ideal for beginners, teachers, therapists
and artists working in any medium who are seeking a fresh start. Whether your
work moves in a realistic or abstract direction, class methods for evoking self-expression
through the transparent magic of water media painting will be appreciated. By
using a full range of non-traditional and experimental water media painting
techniques, we will encourage 'the inner artist' to see and create a personal
visual language. From the moment we wet our paper or canvas to the final sweep
of form and color, we will attempt to evoke the presence of each artist in his
or her work, discovering the personal palette of colors and shapes unique to
each of us. All levels of skill are welcome.
Class demonstrations and discussion will include wetting the paper or canvas, color flooding and gradation, brushwork, edge tinting, compositional energy, atkmospheric and textural effects, and the use of watercolor crayon and acrylic inks. Innovative methods will build self-confidence and facilitate the spontaneity inherent in watermedia painting. We encourage our imagery to dance in a playful way. Wet into wet will be emphasized in order to take advantage of the transparent magic watercolor and fluid acrylic. Instruction is individualized. Studio class size is limited to 8 participants. Early enrollment is suggested.
A suggested art materials list, confirmation letter and directions to Studio on the Mesa in West Marin County (1-hour north of San Francisco along the Pacific coast) will be mailed to enrollees. Overnight lodging is available at or near the studio on class weekends.
To enroll in a Water Media for Self-Expression class, simply mail a check made payable to Carol Duchamp in the amount of $95 to the address below with a note containing class date, your address, phone number, email, skill level and what interested you about the class.
